On April 11, 2013, a Piper PA-24 Comanche was inbound to land at Scottsdale Airport (IATA: SCF, FAA: SDL) when the landing gear malfunctioned and failed to extend. The pilot, Mr. Galen Flinn, shared a thought for his wife with the air traffic controller before performing a perfect gear-up landing. After hearing another pilot complain on frequency about the likely closure of the airport resulting from the emergency landing, Mr. Flinn even offered to attempt the manouver on a taxiway.
