Novo Air, Dhaka is expected planning to acquire an undisclosed number of ATR72-600s, sources have revealed. Though exact details are still unsure, the source claims the turboprops could be used to either supplement the carrier’s fleet of threeERJ-145s, or to replace them altogether.
The decision is likely to be in the response to state-backed carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines’ recent decision to re-enter the domestic market thereby putting private operators Novo Air, United Airways (4H, Dhaka),Regent Airways (RX, Chittagong), and US-Bangla Airlines (BS, Dhaka) under increased pressure.
Novo Air is founded in 2010, the company is supporting the domestic Bangladeshi flights serving Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Jessore, and Sylhet from Dhaka.
